Activity postponement announcement
Based on the decision to declare a state of emergency and orders of the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, in cooperation with other ministries and institutions of the Republic of Serbia, are fully engaged in the task of preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Members of the MoD and the SAF are engaged in a continuous and selfless completion of all tasks, and they accomplish them successfully and meeting high standards. Our members set a good example and give support to the citizens, cooperate with state institutions and authorities and make their full contribution to the fight against COVID-19.
In accordance with the current global state of emergency caused by COVID-19 pandemic, the International Military Sports Council (CISM) has decided to postpone all previously planned CISM activities until the end of August 2020, and the decision to carry out the planned activities from September until the end of 2020 will be adopted subsequently for each activity separately, in accordance with the prescribed medical measures and decisions of the host country's authorities. Also, due to the estimated negative impact of the current state of emergency in the world on the general development of military sports in the coming period, CISM has established a Solidarity Fund to assist CISM member nations affected by the financial crisis as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in order to enable them to participate in significant activities.
Taking into account the aforementioned facts, at the proposal of the Head of the Serbian Delegation to CISM, the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin decided to postpone the organization and participation of the MoD and SAF’s athletes in all previously planned local and international CISM events and other sports activities until the end of August 2020. The decision to participate in the activities from September to the end of 2020 will be made subsequently.
The Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin ordered that the Delegation of the Republic of Serbia to CISM monitor the situation, take measures within its competence and continue activities and preparations for carrying them out if the situation allows, so that, after solving the problem of the COVID-19 pandemic, the planned activities of the MoD and the SAF in the field of sports could be carried out as planned and the possible negative consequences overcome.
